EU announces energy crisis task force after war-related price rises

An EU working group on the energy crisis will be convened with member states due to developments in the war in Iran, the European Commission announced Monday evening after a special meeting in Brussels.
He could plan responses to rapidly rising oil, fuel and gas prices, he said.
The European Union said it was stepping up its monitoring of risks from transport disruptions, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea.

There will be increased coordination with airlines, shipping companies and national authorities, he said.
To support member states’ evacuation and repatriation measures, disaster protection capacities and the emergency coordination center are already being used, the commission said.
In the area of migration, there is close monitoring of trends and enhanced cooperation with relevant UN agencies and partner countries, the statement said.
