President Trump has not forgotten that one of his the GOP’s biggest criticsRep. Thom Tillis is still a sitting senator, just before he forgot the date of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death. Both errors occurred in an interview with Fox New’s Maria Bartiromo that aired Wednesday morning.

Tillis stepped in as Bartiromo asked the president if he would have enough support in the Senate to confirm his preferred replacement of Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell and Board of Governors member Kevin Warsh.

“And you think Kevin Warsh can be confirmed? You think Thom Tillis will give you a vote…”

“Well, we’ll have to find out, maybe not. But that’s why Thom Tillis is no longer a senator,” Trump responded. Tillis is still a senator, although he has said he will not run again in 2026.

“OK,” Bartiromo said, looking blankly at Trump before trying to change the subject. But he didn’t let it happen.

“Thom Tillis is no longer a senator, is he, he resigned?”

“Well, he’s about to come out.”

“But he resigned.”

This is not just a minor error. As Bartiromo herself has said, Tillis could stand in the way of many of Trump’s goals, from confirming the next Fed chair and attorney general to passing his desired budget. In the same interview, Trump claimed that Ginsburg is dead after her 2020 election defeat, when in fact she died a month before. The entire interview added another chapter to Trump’s long record of mental instability.
