Ya Think?! Karen Bass Accuses Spencer Pratt of Tapping Into ‘A General Sense’ of Anger – RedState

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is having a terrible, not good, very bad few weeks. Former reality TV star and mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt criticized Bass during a May 6 mayoral debate. So much so that Bass backed out of another televised debate on May 13, opting to do one-on-one interviews with the privileged press.

And who could be more favorable than the clown car on the left at MS NOW? On Saturday, Bass appeared with Jonathan Capeheart on “The Weekend” to talk about her goals for her second term. The weak points: restoring copper wire in streetlights and fixing Los Angeles’ problems that “have existed for more than three decades.” Bass also dismissed Spencer Pratt by accusing him of being a ball of anger tied to the widespread anger that exists across the country.

Mmm ok.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass accused the Republican challenger in her re-election race of using a “general sense of anger” to motivate support for her mayoral bid.

“I think it taps into a general sense of anger that people feel, not just in Los Angeles, but in many other places in our country,” Bass told MS NOW Saturday morning.

Not “many other places,” Karen, JUST ONE. What other city mayor was warned of high winds and fire danger, removed from office, and traveled to Africa? What other city mayor has let people’s homes burn and blamed it on climate change? What other city mayor is pushing for health care for homeless drug addicts so that addicts can get their teeth fixed?

No, my dear, Los Angeles is particularly angry and particularly horrible, and that horror has grown exponentially in the four years Bass has been in City Hall. Another Spencer Pratt fan tapped into the horror of Karen Bass, as well as the connection Pratt has with the people of Los Angeles and their concerns about another AI banger ad.

But Bass goes Karen. She remains terrible because she can only be what she is: always deaf and totally devoid of self-awareness. After the May 6 debate, during which she stammered and stammered, the stupid Los Angeles mayor accused Pratt of capitalizing on people’s grief, then blamed the Palisades fire on the weather and an “unprecedented weather event.”

WATCH:

Karen Bass now blames ‘climate change’ for Palisades fires.

His own incompetence, fire department budget cuts, poor forest management and empty water tanks are the cause.

This shameful response from Bass should be enough to convince voters to reject her at the polls.

Thus, Spencer Pratt need not try to exploit “general” anger; the majority of Los Angeles residents have been here for a long time, and Pratt only amplifies their voices. But he is not the only one.

An activist, known as William Gude, disrupted a groundbreaking ceremony at which Karen Bass was scheduled to make an appearance. The ceremony was for a new interim housing project in East Hollywood as part of Bass’s “Inside Safe” program to house the “unhoused.”

Gude is far from right of center and doesn’t support Spencer Pratt either. His X account indicates that he is a “copwatcher” who calls the Los Angeles police to account. But as the mayoral race heats up, he has his eyes on Karen Bass, her excessive spending and her refusal to be called to account for her horrific record. Gude shouted over the lighthearted conversation and disrupted Karen Bass’s remarks by excoriating and berating Bass for her lack of leadership and the millions of dollars she wasted on Inside Safe.

It was pretty epic.

Early voting has already begun in Los Angeles and undecided voters are starting to gather. An Emerson College/Inside California Politics poll shows Spencer Pratt overtook District 4 city councilwoman and mayoral candidate Nithya Raman to take second place, just eight percentage points behind Karen Bass. While Bass saw a bump after being endorsed by Kamala Harris, the fact that Pratt is hot on her heels has to be disconcerting to say the least.

An Emerson College Polling/Inside California Politics poll found 30% of voters support incumbent Mayor Karen Bass, up from 20% in March. The poll follows a recent victory for Bass: a reported endorsement from former Vice President Kamala Harris.

The poll, released on Wednesday, May 13 and conducted several days before, showed that other candidates also enjoyed similar growth in support. However, it was Spencer Pratt, the former reality TV star turned Bass opponent, who saw the biggest increase among his fellow contestants; 22% supported the former “The Hills” star in May compared to 10% in March.

Meanwhile, 19% support Los Angeles City Council member Nithya Raman, up from 9% in March.

Having lived in Los Angeles and seen its decline, one wonders why people aren’t angrier. What is needed is for voters to turn their anger toward the polls and vote against Karen Bass.

Editor’s note: The 2026 midterm elections will determine the fate of President Trump’s America First agenda. Republicans must maintain control of both houses of Congress.
