Microsoft tests AI-powered file search in Windows 11 with Copilot

Microsoft has started to deploy a new version of the COPILOT application (version 1.25082.132.0) to the Windows Insider program testers. The update includes two new major features fed by AI.
The first great functionality is called searches for semantic files, which allows you to search for files in Windows 11 using natural language instead of matching exact file names or keywords. For example, you can search “find my CV” to locate your CV documents or “find images of bridges at sunset on my PC” to locate photos that correspond to this description.
With the search for semantic files in Windows 11, you can control which files and folders are accessible to Copilot via the settings. Note that the search for semantic files will only be available for Copilot + PCS, which means laptops that have advanced NPUs.
The other new update feature is the new appearance of the Copilot home page, which brings together your latest applications, files and conversations directly in the application. The deployment of news will be carried out gradually via Microsoft Store to all initiate channels.
