The Ultimate Dual-Pane File Manager for Android
Total order is my choice file manager on Windows for over 20 years, and its Android version has been a basic application on each Android phone that I have had since 2012. It contains a plethora of useful features, and I urge each Android phone owner to try it.
Double shutter file management on Android, baby!
I had obtained my first PC in 2005, and one of the first programs that I installed was total command because it offered double -flap file management, a killer feature at the time when Windows File Explorer was (and is always missing.
Quick advance until 2012, and the Total Commander landed on Android, which finally allowed me to travel the files on my phone with two panels open simultaneously. Thirteen years later (the weather is safe), and the total commander is always my choice of file management, being one of the first applications that I install during the configuration of a new handset.
The main reason is his fantastic experience of managing dual -component files. Although the default, the vertical arrangement does not allow you to visualize a panel at a time, to slide on the left or right (depending on the panel in which you are currently) or by pressing the three arrow icon on the edge of the screen allows you to quickly switch between the two panels open, which works rather well. But it’s better.
Although, by default, you can only see two panels simultaneously in the horizontal arrangement, the application allows you to activate the navigation of two -stea files even in the vertical arrangement.
Personally, I leave the handicapped option because the layout is too crowded for my taste. But the important thing here is that the application allows you to do it in the first place. It can be very practical if you have a phone with a solid screen, a foldable phone or don’t bother your eyes crowded.
The real pleasure begins when you turn your phone back to the side. The layout with two panels feels at home in landscape mode. You can easily browse your phone’s file system, copy and transfer files to the contents of your heart.
I spend most of my time using the application in horizontal view. At the time, I constantly added and removed music to and from my phone. But since I started using Spotify, I especially spend time in the Total Commander by moving photos of my Android phone to my PC and browsing my Google Drive directories.
What? Can I access my PC and browse my Google Drive files directly from the file manager on my phone? Yes, the Total Commander for Android contains a ton of features and plugins, allowing you to transform it into a powerful tool for all your file management needs on the go.
The Total Commander is not a pony in a turn
Double glazing file management is only a Tip Total Arsenal tip. Under the surface, the application offers a ton of cool functionality which can considerably expand its basic functionality.
To start, I love its simple but effective gaggril copy and to move actions. All you have to do is type and maintain a file or folder icon, drag it to the second panel, let it go and present yourself with a dialog window offering you to copy or move the said file or the folder, which works perfectly.
You can also copy or move files or folders by selecting several file / folder icons. You have native support for files and zipper and decompress folders; You can add bookmarks, search for files and folders, rename several files or folders, check the applications you have installed and save them, share or send files to any application you have on your phone, and much more.
There is even an integrated multimedia player capable of playing music and local videos, but also in media broadcasting via LAN or a shared cloud file! He even has an equalizer!
Honestly, the list of integrated features is a bit overwhelming, and despite the use of the application for more than thirteen years, I am positive that I have still not tried a certain number of features offered. But that still improves, because Total Commander also supports various plugins that still widen his capacities.
The application supports a number of practical plugins
Despite a plethora of integrated features, Total Commander also has a support for first and third plugins.
My two favorites are the Google Drive plugin (configuration is pain, but is worth it) and the LAN plugin. The first allows me to browse my Google Drive files directly from the Total Commander, while the second allows me to send files to and from the shared folder of my PC.
The LAN plugin was an essential part of my Total Arsenal commander when I stored my music locally. Nowadays, I sometimes use it to send photos on my PC and a strange album that is not available on Spotify.
There are also plugins to access your OneDrive and Dropbox folders, FTP and Wi-Fi transfer plugins, SFTP plugins (secure file transfer protocol) with SSH and SSL support, etc.
Most plugins allow you to connect to remote locations, such as your PC, and they require a little work to configure. But once you have finished the work, you can browse your cloud files, broadcast music and videos from your multimedia folders, easily browse your PC storage players and transform the Total Commander for Android into the Ultimate File Management tool.
I have been using the Total Commander for 13 years without problems
Total order is my Android file manager for more than a decade, and I have not yet encountered a major problem with the application. Admittedly, the configuration of the plugins can be painful because the application, although extremely powerful, is not exactly friendly.
You should learn certain things, especially if you are not in programming, so that most plugins work without problems, and there are also several hidden features below the surface for which you need to dig. But once you know, the sky is the limit.
The application operates on any Android 2.2 or subsequent version executing device, although you will need a device with Android 4.0 or more recent for some plugins to work.
The only major drawback is that you cannot install APK with the Total Commander Play Store version. Functionality was a must for Total Commander for Android for a decade, but the developer had to delete it at Google’s demand.
That said, you can download an application -free version of the application if you want, offered directly by Christian Ghisler, the person behind Total order.
Another treat that deserves to be explained is that, although the Total Commander for Android is free and does not contain any ad, his Play Store page indicates that the application includes ads. The capture is that Google treats the link “Add plugins” in the application as an ad because it is linked to our other applications (plugins), according to the author.
So yes, the icing on the cake is that the Total Android commander is completely free and contains no advertising, in addition to offering a crazy number of features and a double -flap file management experience.
Each Android user, especially power users, should at least download and consult this jewel of an application that I will use as long as I stay on Android.
