Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – The current quarrel between the United States and Brazil intensified on Friday after the Supreme Court of Brazil ordered the former president Jair Bolsonaro – an ally of Donald Trump – to wear an electronic ankle instructor, citing him as the risk of theft.

The court affirms that Bolsonaro asked for interference from the American president to undermine the Brazilian judicial power – allegedly in the midst of increasing tensions between the two countries.

The police went down to Bolsonaro’s home and the party headquarters early Friday morning, adapting the far -right leader with the follow -up system. The court also imposed a nocturnal and weekend curfew and prevented it from contacting foreign diplomats, visiting embassies or using social media.

Bolsonaro, which faces accusations of conspiracy to stay in power after losing the Brazil elections in 2022, described the measures a “supreme humiliation”. Speaking before a federal police station, he denied having planned to flee and said that the $ 14,000 found at his home had been legally obtained.

Thursday evening, President Trump published a letter on his social platform of truth demanding that the case be abandoned. He has repeatedly threatened 50% of prices on Brazilian products if the accusation continues. “I’m going to look closely,” wrote Trump.

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva retaliated, calling Trump’s “singing” threats and promising not to bow against foreign pressure.

“No gringo Go give orders to this president, “Lula told an enthusiastic crowd using the common Brazilian slang for foreigners.

Lula says Brazil weighs reprisals on American products, including technological companies. The confrontation has contributed to relaunch its popularity of signaling, as many Brazilians consider Trump’s remarks as an excessive excess.

“American observers underestimate the power of Brazilian nationalism,” said political scientist Oliver Stuenkel of FGV University. “There is a strong answer to what is considered an aggressive interference by Trump.”

Justice Alexander of Moraes, the judge of the Supreme Court who oversees the case of Bolsonaro, is increasingly the target of conservative personalities of the United States for his repression against disinformation and social media platforms. Trump’s media company, Trump Media and Technology Group, even brought an action against him before a Florida court, accusing him of having violated freedom of expression.

Meanwhile, Bolsonaro’s son Eduardo – in the United States – pressure on Trump to put pressure on Brazil institutions. In a press release published on social media, Eduardo called Brazil to “act as a worthy democracy”.

But it is now forbidden to speak to his father. The order of the court prohibits Bolsonaro from contacting other accusations, including his son, who also claims to be a victim of political persecution.
