Latrobe, Pennsylvania – Aaron Rodgers believes that the New -Look Pittsburgh Steelers offensive is starting to understand things.

The veteran quarterrier says that it is even open to show how the offense arrived when the pre-season of Saturday was opened against Jacksonville … if coach Mike Tomlin is asking.

“It’s an interesting conversation,” said Rodgers on Wednesday. “I think Mike and I have this at some point. I don’t think it’s in the plan for me to play this week, but whatever Mike wants to do, I’m fully on board.”

The 41 -year -old appeared for the last time in an exhibition match two years ago in his first season with the New York Jets. Before that, the oldest active player in the NFL had not run on the field for a game that has not been since 2018.

The short -term loss of the quarter recruit Will Howard could complicate things. The former Ohio State star faces a hand injury and will not be available, leaving Rodgers, the veteran Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson to divide the pictures against the Jaguars.

Tomlin said on Wednesday that Howard was “from week to week” with a broken finger after pressing his hand against a training helmet on Tuesday. Howard, who had a splint on what seemed to be his little finger during Wednesday practice, still explores his options, but the injury seems non -surgical.

“He [stinks] For him, for sure … because he had such a beautiful camp as a young player, then looks at him at Minicamp and seeing his, you know, the command of the offense, “said Rodgers, who actively took Howard under his wing since his signature of a one -year agreement with the Steelers in early June.” But this year is a year of growth for him. It’s a year to watch and learn and obviously improve. This [should] Just be a minor setback for him. “”

After having been regularly dominated during the first 10 practices at Saint Vincent College, Rodgers thinks that he has seen progress in recent days when he develops more comfortable in the system of offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.

The two spent several hours on Tuesday talking about offensive philosophy beyond simple X and O, and Rodgers said Smith wanted the offense to be a collaboration process.

“It’s not at all a rigid guy, do you know?” Said Rodgers. “So … Ideas I have or ideas that some of the receivers give me to give it, everything is taken into consideration, which I really appreciate.”
