Alberta to hold referendum on whether to remain in Canada

Smith, in a televised speech, said the question facing Albertans this fall will be: “Should Alberta remain a province of Canada or should the Alberta government begin the legal process required by the Canadian Constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on whether or not Alberta should secede from Canada?”
