Alexandria Legion scores win in pitcher’s duel over Wagner – Mitchell Republic
WAGNER, S.D. β Pitching prowess was on full display on Friday night, as Alexandria Post 41 claimed a Legion baseball victory over Wagner Post 11 by a score of 4-1.
Alexandria starter Tyler Sanderson threw 5 1/3 innings and struck out 12 Wagner batters, allowing two hits and one run on 107 pitches. Sanderson was the winning pitcher, while Carter Endorf scored a save in relief, picking up five outs without allowing a hit or run and striking out two.
On offense, Esten Schlimgen had two doubles, while Ben Wilber had three hits for Alexandria. Carter Popp and Radek Jarding each had a hit and a run scored, while Brayden Bahmuller had an RBI.

For Wagner, Carter Cournoyer had 13 strikeouts on the mound, allowing six hits and three runs in 6 2/3 innings. Cournoyer had the lone RBI for Wagner and also joined Joey Cournoyer as each had a double for Wagner.
Alexandria (6-2) plays at Parkston at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 29 before hosting Scotland/Menno/Freeman on July 1. Wagner (8-5) plays at Chamberlain on July 2.
