20-year-old man arrested for allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail at Sam Altman’s house

San Francisco police arrested a 20-year-old man suspected of throwing a Molotov cocktail at the Russian Hill home of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman early Friday morning. The San Francisco Standard reports. The incident was captured on surveillance cameras shortly before 7 a.m. ET. Later that morning, a person matching the suspect’s description was seen making threats outside the OpenAI offices in Mission Bay, where he was arrested around 9 a.m. ET.

OpenAI spokesperson Jamie Radice confirmed the incident in a statement to The edgestating, “Thankfully, no one was injured. We deeply appreciate the quick response of the SFPD and the city’s support in keeping our employees safe. The individual is in custody and we are assisting law enforcement with their investigation.”

On Friday, the San Francisco Police Department shared a post on OpenAI’s headquarters is located at 1455 3rd Street. According to the post, the investigation is ongoing and “charges are still pending at this time.” The SFPD did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
