US Open: Daniil Medvedev fined $42,500 for racket meltdown | Daniil Medvedev

On Wednesday, Daniil Medvedev was sentenced to a fine of $ 42,500 by the US Open – more than a third of its $ 110,000 price from this year at the tournament – for its collapse after a photographer wandered on the field at the match point.
Jake Garner tournament referee accosted Medvedev $ 30,000 for antactive driving and an additional $ 12,500 for snowshoeing. When the match of the first round Sunday ended with a defeat for Medvedev, he repeatedly struck a racket against his chair, destroying the equipment.
Medvedev, the United States champion Open in 2021, was angry when the referee of President Greg Allensworth granted the opponent Benjamin Bonzi to another first service after the interruption of the photographer.
Bonzi was on the match point, leading 5-4 in the third set, when the photographer – whose identification information was then dismissed – walked along the court just after a fault.
Allesworth told the photographer to leave the court, then announced that Bonzi would get another first service due to the delay. Medvedev approached the civil servant to complain, and things quickly became uncontrollable. The crowd began to undermine and sang: “Second service!” The game was retained for more than six minutes while Medvedev agitated the fans and insulted Allensworth.
“Are you a man? Why are you trembling? He wants to get home guys, he doesn’t like being here. He’s paid by the match, not on time,” shouted Medvedev.
When the order was restored, Medvedev ended up taking this set – and the fourth too. But Bonzi ended up winning 6-3, 7-5, 6-7, 0-6, 6-4.
It was the third consecutive defeat of Medvedev’s Grand Slam in the first round, including last month in Wimbledon against Bonzi.
