Owings Mills, Md. – Arthur Jones, a defensive line player who spent his first four NFL seasons in Baltimore and won a Super Bowl with the Ravens, died. He was 39 years old.

Syracuse, Alma Mater of Jones, said that he died on Friday morning. The school and the Ravens did not give deaths in their ads.

“Arthur’s presence was a gift for all those he met,” said Director General of Ravens, Eric Decosta. “His big brilliant smile, her infectious energy and his eternal positivity created a presence that continuously supported the others.”

Jones was a fifth round choice in 2010 and had 8½ of his 10 career bags in a two-season section in 2012-13. The Ravens beat San Francisco in the Super Bowl XLVII to crown the 2012 season.

Jones dismissed the quarter-back of the 49ers Colin Kaepernick just before a power failure to the Superdome of New Orleans. He also had an escaped recovery in this Super Bowl.

“My heart is heavy today after the loss of art Jones,” said Ravens coach John Harbaugh. “Art was a really remarkable person, a dedicated teammate, a relentless worker, and someone all coach would be proud to lead. His love for life, his generous mind and her radiant smile have left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to know him.

“He had a real gift to connect with people, bringing joy in the locker room and beyond, and his presence was a source of light within our team and the Baltimore community.”

Jones also spent two years with Indianapolis and one last season in Washington in 2017.

Jones played for Syracuse and was the older brother of the former UFC heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, and the former defensive winger of Syracuse and the NFL, Chandler Jones, a professional professional quadruple who won a Super Bowl in New England.

Jones had 38½ plated for the loss in Syracuse, a school record for an interior defensive line player. It was a selection of the first All-Big East team each of its last two seasons.

“Arthur Jones was a great player and an even better person,” said Syracuse sports director John Wildhack. “We were lucky that Arthur continued to support our football program after his player career. He had an impact on many of our students athletes, always with a smile and an edifying message.”
