As puzzling as a platypus: The JWST finds some hard to categorize objects

The platypus is one of the adorable and strange animals of evolution. The creature appears to defy the well-understood rules of biology by combining physical traits in bizarre ways. They are egg-laying mammals with a duck bill and beaver-like tail, and males have venomous spurs on their hind legs. In this regard, it is entirely appropriate that astronomers describe some recently discovered strange objects as “platypuses of astronomy.”
