Walz Compares ICE Enforcing U.S. Immigration Laws to Nazi Germany

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (Democrat) compared U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) which enforced the nation’s immigration laws to Nazi Germany and referenced the story of Anne Frank.
During a press conference Sunday, Walz questioned what President Donald Trump’s “plan” was and whether the president’s plan was to “make an example of Minnesota,” according to CBS News. Walz’s comments came after a Border Patrol agent-involved shooting occurred Saturday, leaving 37-year-old Alex Pretti dead.
Breitbart News’ AWR Hawkins reported that the Department of Homeland Security explained in a statement that agents conducted a “targeted operation in Minnesota against an illegal alien wanted for violent assault.”
While conducting the operation, Pretti allegedly approached “U.S. Border Patrol agents with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun”:
The release said agents were “conducting a targeted operation in Minneapolis against an illegal alien wanted for violent assault.” While conducting the operation, a man approached “U.S. Border Patrol agents with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun.”
The police attempted to disarm the man but he “violently resisted”.
According to CBS News, during Walz’s press conference he asked what needs to be done “to get these federal agents out” of Minnesota:
So my question is: what is the plan, Donald Trump? What’s the plan? What must we do to get these federal agents out of our state? If you expected fear, violence and chaos from us, then you clearly underestimated the people of this state and this nation.
We are tired, but we are determined. We are at peace, but we will never forget. We are angry, but we will not lose hope. And above all, we are clearly united. If Donald Trump intended to make Minnesota an example, then I’m damn proud of the example the world sees.
Walz closed his speech by calling on Trump to “end this today” and remove ICE and Border Patrol agents.
“Let our children go back to school. In Minnesota, we have children hiding in their homes, afraid to come out. Many of us grew up reading that Anne Frank story,” Walz added. “Someone’s going to write this children’s story about Minnesota.”
Several people criticized Walz on social media for his “shameful comparisons” and pointed out that comparing immigration enforcement and the deportation of illegal aliens “to the Holocaust is anti-Semitic.”
“The Jewish people want you to stop minimizing the memory of the Holocaust with your shameful comparisons @GovTimWalz,” said Ellie Cohanim, host of Unfiltered America on Al Arabiya English, wrote in a job on X.
“Comparing the deportation of illegal immigrants to the Holocaust is anti-Semitic and repugnant,” Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) wrote in a statement. job on X. “Will the Jewish Democrats denounce him? I won’t hold my breath.”
“Democrats desperately want to establish the narrative that Trump is Hitler and ICE is the Gestapo, because then their violence is justified,” one person said. wrote. “This is extremely dangerous. Walz is trying to get his supporters to violently confront federal law enforcement. They want civil war.”
“Democrats continue to prove over and over again that they truly have no understanding of the Holocaust and lack empathy,” another person said. wrote.
