People who went down to the Nevada desert for this year’s Burning Man event are welcomed by dust and wind, which could continue in the coming days.

The event started in the Black Rock desert on Sunday, about 100 miles north of Reno, Nev. It is “not a festival”, but a “world cultural movement where people meet to create, innovate and share stories”, according to The Burning Man Project, the non -profit organization responsible for the case. The organization did not respond to requests for comments.

From Monday to Wednesday, there are between 30% and 60% of precipitation in the Reno region, but storms have not yet started to push towards Black Rock, a Meather Service meteorologist told NPR Gigi Gigi Gigi.

The organizers of Burning Man say that around 80,000 people present their events each year. Some videos on social networks since Sunday have shown participants fighting against strong winds, with dust particles disturbing their camera lenses.

“The main concern of some of these storms, at least today, will be that they are relatively slow storms, and they will therefore be able to produce more rain than if they were moving relatively quickly,” said Giralte.

Time could also cause a small hail and a boost. However, the planned amounts of rain and humidity can help.

“It is a very fine material up there,” said Giralte. “And it is therefore very easy for this to get up with any wind. If they are a little damp up there, and they have showers yesterday, it will reduce the amount of dust possible to be launched in the air.”

The region will start to dry from Thursday, giving events for a few days of relief until Burning Man ends next Monday.

In 2023, It took people about seven hours to travel along the 5 -mile road outside the desert, because the road had become extremely muddy after heavy rains.

But these weather conditions are normal enough for Black Rock during this time of year, which is the monsoon season. In Gerlach, nearby, temperatures reach an average summit of around 94 degrees at this time of the year, and an average minimum of around 60, said the National Weather Service.

Giralte encourages participants in Burning Man to keep an eye on forecasts and have a plan to meet dangerous conditions, such as shelter in the car.
