Regulators from 14 countries, including the United States and Canada, recently met in South Korea to discuss issues ranging from digitalization to food safety management.

The Asia-Pacific Food Regulatory Authority (APFRAS) Summit was held in Seoul from May 11 to 12. APFRAS was established in 2023 and Korea is the president country until 2028. Participating countries included the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Chile, China, Singapore and Thailand.

One of the objectives was to go beyond information sharing to achieve tangible results and position Asia-Pacific regulatory frameworks as a major force in shaping global standards. APFRAS member countries have agreed to seek observer status with the Codex Alimentarius Commission.
