The 10 most important signings in MLS history: Who’s No. 1?
The signing of LaFC of the South Korean star, Heung-Min, earlier this month, is a major coup, not only for the team. It is also the last of a series of acquisitions that brought an unprecedented level of talent and attention to the MLS while the League is approaching the end of its 30th anniversary season.
Since Lionel Messi joined Inter Miami shortly after winning the 2022 World Cup, MLS welcomed more than two dozen world stars, champions of the Hugo Lloris World Cup, Olivier Giroud, Rodrigo de Paul and Thomas Mueller in Germany Marco Reus and Luis Suárez d’Uruguay.
Some had passed their peak a little, but others, including Messi, turned out to be dominant MLS players. The addition of son, probably the best Asian player of all time, opens a new chapter for the league and American football while the country is preparing to welcome the World Cup next summer.
