A large cardboard box filled with New York Police uniforms was abandoned near Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, police said Thursday.

A 911 call led police to the box containing the department’s pants, shirts, jackets and hats on the side of a road in the 66th Precinct around 8:39 p.m. Tuesday, cops said.

Video posted online shows officers taking uniforms out of the box at 37th Street and Ninth Avenue in Borough Park and putting them in plastic bags.

The “blues” were taken to the 66th arrondissement police station for safety, the police said.

The unusual discovery fueled speculation online, with one X user noting that the discovery almost coincided with Mamdani’s swearing-in at midnight on Thursday morning.

“It wasn’t a smart thing to do…these uniforms could be used in future attacks on the city,” Derick Brough commented on X. “They (the police) could have expressed their disgust with the mayor’s selection in other ways.”

Likewise, another poster also saw a possibly sinister motive behind this curious event.

“They definitely didn’t come from a strike (by protesting police officers),” commented X user Anthony. “It looks more like a foiled terrorist plot or something.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
