Dozens rescued across country as torrents collapse section of security fence

Amid reports of severe flooding nationwide due to heavy rain overnight Tuesday morning, first responders rescued dozens of people across the country.

A section of the security fence also collapsed in the West Bank, Israeli media reported.

Additionally, the Israel Fire and Rescue Authority noted that among those rescued by first responders were 10 people, including a mother and baby, in the West Bank community of Elkana.

“We received information that civilians were trapped in their homes due to flooding,” said team commander Reshef Tomer. “As soon as we arrived, we made contact with the civilians and evacuated them from their homes safely. »

Israel Fire and Rescue Service personnel also rescued an Israel Natural Gas Lines employee after the Yatir River near Hura overflowed its banks and flooded nearby roads in southern Israel.

After continued rescue efforts, first responders were able to rescue the driver and return the truck to dry land.

Personnel from the Israeli emergency medical service, Magen David Adom, are currently providing medical treatment to the driver at the scene.
