Browns Considering Surprise QB Move After Shedeur Sanders’ Preseason Debut: Report

Many interviewed the Browns of Cleveland after writing Dillon Gabriel in the third round of the NFL draft in 2025 in April and Sheder Sanders two Tours later.
With Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett already on the list, the Browns were apparently philosophy that you can never have too many quarters.
Throughout the OTA and the Minicamp, and even the first stadiums of the training camp, it seemed that Flacco, Pickett and Gabriel were the three players privileged by Cleveland, with Sanders mainly obtaining representatives of the third team at that time.
However, after his impressive performance in the opening of the pre -season of the Browns against the Carolina Panthers – a match in which he finished 4 of the 238 passes for 138 yards, two affected and zero interceptions while rushing for 19 yards in four races – it seems that Sanders has a new life in the QB race of four players.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski even told journalists after the match that Sanders would see an increase in the number of representatives he obtained with the first team in the future, which means that the Browns could actually have a legitimate competition in their hands now.
While most expected the Browns carry three QB on their list of 53 men and cut or exchange one of the recruits, it now seems that there could be some other options on the table while they are heading around 2 of the pre-season, in particular by keeping Gabriel and Sanders around, according to Zac Jackson de The Athletic.
“Browns could absolutely keep four-quarters because, if Pickett is exchanged or released, one of the recruits would become the immediate backup,” he wrote.

While many have suspected that Gabriel or Sanders could become commercial baits closer to the start of the regular season, the idea that Pickett could actually be on the commercial block is a relatively new development.
Jackson also underlined such a return plan against the Browns, as only two years ago, when he exchanged Joshua Dobbs with a choice of seventh round to the Cardinals of Arizona in exchange for a choice of fifth round.
That season, Cleveland had to start the Dorian Thompson-Robinson recruit after Deshaun Watson was injured, while Dobbs played admirably for the Cardinals and the Vikings (he was exchanged before the deadline), accumulating 2464 yards, 13 touches, 10 interceptions, 421 years and six yards by touched blows.

Given the recent history history of Cleveland with QB, it transports four on the list may not be a bad idea.
While who settles in jobs No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 will probably not be decided until the end of the pre-season, but it seems that the four players will obtain more representative sharing to make Stefanski’s decision a little easier.
“Before the camp, I thought there were dozens of ways whose quarter competition could take place,” added Jackson. “Two weeks before the end of the pre-season, it is always impossible to predict a large part of everything outside Flacco is probably the starter of the opening day.
“And one of the reasons is that until we saw Sanders obtaining practical representatives with the offense n ° 1, we cannot believe that the Browns consider it as having a lot of blow to be No. 2 when the season begins.”
