California legislators have adopted a bill forcing schools to alert families and teachers when the immigration application authorities are on campuses while the Trump administration is continuing its aggressive mass deportation campaign.

Under the bill, kindergarten schools in the 12th year, state universities and community colleges must inform students, teachers and staff, “similar to the early alert systems in place for other campus emergencies”, according to a press release from the Sasha Renée Pérez State, which is the author of the legislation.

He now goes to Gavin Newsom, who has until October 12 to sign him. The legislation would take effect immediately if it was signed and would remain in force until 2031.

“With students who return to school, this legislation is more important than ever,” said Pérez, president of the Senate committee on education.

“Faced with mass deportations, raids and the authorities of the application of immigration presenting themselves in schools, the safe act can help inform and empower school communities to make the best decisions about their security and family security,” she said.

The bill comes as the repression of immigration from the Trump administration has launched communities in troubles, and immigration agents have arrested people outside schools and shopping centers. State legislators adopted a list of proposals in response to repression on Tuesday, and bills advanced the immigration authorities prohibiting the entry into the non -public areas of the school or the hospital without a mandate.

“Students cannot learn unless they feel safe,” said Democratic Al Muratsuchi Democrat. “For decades, we had a bipartite agreement to keep the educational establishments, schools, campuses, without an application for immigration.”

The legislation was supported by Tony Thurmond, the superintendent of the public education state, which oversees the public school system of California.

“Our families of immigrants live in fear and our time to act is limited. The school year has started, and it’s time to make decisive efforts to protect our communities and keep schools as a safe place for learning, “said Thurmond.

Other States led by Democrats have introduced legislation this year aimed at protecting immigrants in their homes, at work and during police meetings in the midst of Trump’s mass deportation plans.

While the school year started in Los Angeles Unified last month, officials urged the immigration authorities not to carry out an application activity near the school day. The school district, which is the second largest in the country, includes around 30,000 immigrant students, including a quarter estimated without legal status, according to the teachers’ union.

In August, federal immigration agents arrested a 15 -year -old boy under the threat of a firearm outside a Los Angeles high school, a case that aroused generalized indignation in the city.
