Cameron Norrie continued his beautiful form of Grand Chelem by holding his nerve at the end of a deadly battle with Francisco Comeaña to win 7-6 (5), 6-3, 6-7 (0) 7-6 (4) and organized a third match with Novak Djokovic.

Norrie, who reached the fourth round of the French Open and the quarter -finals in Wimbledon this year, looked well on the victory when he put in advance in two sets. However, when he was ahead of the victory, his nerves are increasingly received on the surface.

After establishing an advance of 4-1 with a double break in the final set, then serving for the match at 5-4, Norrie found himself down to 5-6. While Comeaña wins a setback on the line, Norrie thought he had been forced to a fifth set and he started walking to his chair, but the referee confirmed that the blow had landed.

Having received a second chance, Norrie wanted to force an equality break, then closed the match with a courageous game. Norrie had worked for almost all the points of the match, but as the match was suspended in the balance, he closed the match with two first unsuccessful services.

Djokovic said he hoped that his form would improve with more games at the US Open after having fought early on an inexperienced American challenger before recovering to reach the third round in New York with a 6-7 victory (5), 6-3, 6-3, 6-1 against Zachary Svajda.

Three days after Djokovic’s difficult opening match, where he had many physical problems in an attrition battle with the learner Tien, Djokovic was still looking for his shape while hanging out with a set against Svajda. Although the Serbian gradually found his way, he was also helped by the physical difficulties of 22 years when he struggled with a left leg problem in the second half of the match.

Despite the greatest player of all time in the biggest sports stadium, Svajda played courageously from the start, surpassing Djokovic on the baseline before closing a tense opening set with a burning reverse. But Djokovic gradually went back to the match with effective portions and key forays in the net.

Svajda began to fight with her left leg, grazing her frequently while her movement deteriorated. Despite his difficulties, he led by a 3-1 break in the third set after a bad service game from Djokovic – but the Serb quickly recovered, 11 of the next 13 games spent the match.

Subsequently, Djokovic spoke frankly about his problems on the ground: “I did not feel so great to be honest. I was not satisfied with my tennis for the first part of the match, but also the merit of Zach for having played high quality tennis.

“It was regrettable that he had a hard time hurting himself towards the end of the second set, but congratulates him for his stay on the field. It was obvious that he could not serve as well as for a set and a half. I wanted him the best in the net because I think he is playing very well.”

The US Open marks the first appearance of Djokovic in any competition since Wimbledon due to the 38 -year -old man who chose to prioritize his family life to participate in the long two -week events in Toronto and Cincinnati. Djokovic said he hoped that his level will gradually improve with more matches, victories and time in the court during the tournament.

“This was the case for most of my big home career. The more deep in the tournament, the better I feel about my game,” he said. “It is obviously a little different in the past two years for me, I am useful faster than I did so so I have to face this; a lot of recovery things to try to go to the highest level.”

Djokovic was followed at Stade Arthur Ashe by Jessica Pegula, the fourth seed and finalist of last year, who placed the third round with a clinical victory 6-1, 6-3 against Anna Blinka.
