Cause of death revealed for Tommy Lee Jones’ daughter, Victoria

Victoria Jones, the daughter of Oscar winner Tommy Lee Jones, died of an accidental cocaine overdose, San Francisco’s chief medical examiner confirmed Tuesday.
The 34-year-old’s death was an accident caused by the “toxic effects of cocaine,” the medical examiner’s office said. She was found unconscious in a room at the Fairmont Hotel, known for its world-famous clientele, at 2:52 a.m. on New Year’s Day.
San Francisco police confirmed at the time that officers had gone to the hotel for reports of a “deceased person.” In dispatch audio obtained by TMZ, the 911 call was classified as “code 3” for a possible overdose, but few other details were released.
Victoria had suffered from cocaine addiction for years and was arrested twice last year. She died 20 days before her scheduled court appearance on possession charges and a proposed plea deal that would have helped her get sober if she met certain conditions.
Tommy Lee Jones had long been trying to help his daughter, one of two adult children he shares with ex-wife Kimberlea Cloughley Moser. They were married from 1981 to 1996 and also have a son, Austin Jones, 43.
In 2023, Jones was granted temporary guardianship over Victoria, fearing that she would risk “life-threatening conduct” and fearing that she would “disappear” and use his money to support her harmful lifestyle instead of getting help. The conservatorship lasted from August until December 18, when Jones terminated it.
Victoria was an actress in her own right, appearing in 2002’s “Men in Black II,” which also starred her famous father; “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada,” the 2005 film he starred in and directed, and the TV series “One Tree Hill,” among other small roles.
The family has largely been mum in the weeks since his death. Two days after it was discovered, they released a brief statement thanking everyone for “all the kind words, thoughts and prayers,” while asking people to “respect our privacy during this difficult time.”
