Claude Showed Me How to Change a Tire Step by Step With This New Feature

Claude can create interactive graphs, charts and visualizations right in chat thanks to a new feature Anthropic announced Thursday. The new tool, which is currently in beta (so expect bugs), is not an AI image generator. It’s not a Nano Banana rival, but something completely different. In fact, you really have to see this feature to get an idea of its interest and ingenuity.
I tried out the new feature by asking Claude to show me how to change a tire, and it produced a detailed, interactive step-by-step visualization that gave me confidence in my ability to handle the task. It wasn’t just a cool thing (although it was cool); it was a better way to show the process than the typical block of text of an AI chatbot.
These new visualizations have a specific objective: to allow users to better understand the subject they are discussing with Claude. In some cases, a large block of text can be more clearly replaced by a visual, which is what Anthropic, the creator of Claude, is trying to do here. The system determines when a visual may be the most appropriate response in a conversation so that information can be more easily understood.
Some of the more interesting examples shared by Anthropic include a step-by-step tutorial for making a “cool” paper airplane and an interactive periodic table that lets you click on individual elements for more information.
When Claude determines that a visual is the most appropriate response – or when a user explicitly requests one – he generates interactive HTML and SVG files on the spot, built from scratch. Anthropic likens this feature to giving Claude a whiteboard on demand.
This feature is part of a broader Anthropic initiative to make Claude a more dynamic AI tool, capable of choosing the best medium to provide a response. Even without a traditional image generator, the feature can be more impactful, providing visualizations when they are most useful.
The feature will be enabled by default, so you don’t need to click on settings to enable it. Plus, it’s available on all plan types, which means you won’t be subject to a paywall to access it. It is currently only available on web and desktop and may be available on mobile in the future.
Claude taught me how to change a tire
With just a simple message, Claude gave me a step-by-step tutorial for changing a tire on the car I don’t have.
To see how the feature worked, I asked Claude to show me how to visually change a tire. In seconds, it produced an interactive seven-step illustration of the process, complete with required tools and explanations of key steps. The illustrations aren’t very detailed, but they get the point across clearly.
For fun, I also asked Claude to create an interactive visual representation of a house facade from a book I was reading. Not only did it do this accurately, but virtually everything was clickable, displaying small pieces of information when selecting windows or door. The feature has a real “wow” factor, and you can download the illustrations it generates or save them as artifacts for later use in Claude.
