Coco Gauff parts ways with her coach days before US Open campaign | Coco Gauff

Coco Gauff would have separated with coach Matthew Daly a few days before the start of the US Open, making another reshuffle of his support team on the eve of the last major of the year. This decision was reported for the first time by rebound.
World Champion N ° 3 and Double Major will continue to work with her longtime coach Jean-Christophe Faurel, but added the specialist in the biomechanics Gavin Macmillan to her corner. Macmillan was spotted with Gauff during a Wednesday training session at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.
Macmillan previously worked with Aryna Sabalenka, helping the world n ° 1 to overcome his yips in service in 2022 and refine his forehand. Gauff had trouble with his own service this summer, notably noting 42 double defects in three games at the Canada Open earlier this month.
Daly, a handle specialist, confirmed her departure after a little over a year in the role. He joined the Gauff team last fall after she separated from Brad Gilbert, focusing on the modification of his grip and the adjustment of technical details. The modifications initially borne fruit: Gauff won the title China Open and closed 2024 by winning the WTA final. This season, she added a second major to the French Open and reached the final in Madrid and Rome.
But the inconsistency has returned in recent months. Since her triumph in Paris, she has only won four single games, including a surprise outing in the first round in Wimbledon. Daly, speaking to rebounds, only said: “He has only good things to say about Coco, liked working with her.”
Gauff, 21, has not yet publicly commented on staff changes. She has to play in an exhibition Thursday evening at the Arthur Ashe stadium before the start of the United States singles.
