Consumer complaint about metal pieces sparks recall of kielbasa sausages

Following a consumer complaint, Olympia Provisions of Portland, Oregon, is recalling 1,930 pounds of ready-to-eat holiday kielbasa sausages that may be contaminated with foreign matter, particularly metal, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
FSIS is concerned that some products may be found in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased this product are asked not to consume it.
The kielbasa was produced on October 14. The following product is subject to recall:
- 16 oz. vacuum sealed plastic packages containing a fully cooked “OLYMPIA PROVISIONS UNCURED HOLIDAY KIELBASA” with the date “BEST IF USED BY” “02/19/26” printed on the side of the label.
The recalled product has the establishment number “EST. 39928” inside the USDA inspection mark printed on the label.
This item shipped to retail locations in California, Oregon, and Washington, and was available nationwide through direct-to-consumer online sales.
The problem was discovered after the establishment notified FSIS that it had received a consumer complaint regarding metal found in the product. There have been no confirmed reports of injury due to consumption of this product. Anyone concerned about an injury should contact a healthcare professional.
