Elite Medical School Allegedly Continuing Its DEI March Despite Trump EOs
The Johns Hopkins Medical School faces a complaint in civil rights to have continued to use diversity, actions and inclusion (DEI) despite the executive order of President Donald Trump prohibiting its use.
America First Legal (AFL) filed the complaint on Thursday with the Ministry of Justice (DOJ), alleging that the school is committed to “systemic, intentional and continuous discrimination” using race as a factor in admissions and job and accommodation programs which only allow people of a certain race, sex or sexuality.
“It is a question of restoring equal treatment under the law. Johns Hopkins has received billions of dollars from taxpayers, but this actively separates opportunities based on race and sex,” said Megan Redshaw, lawyer at AFL, in a statement. “It’s not just false – it’s unconstitutional.”
The Johns Hopkins Medical School did not respond to the request for comments from the Daily Call News Foundation.

The AFL alleys that the Faculty of Medicine is committed to an “calculated effort to escape the decision of the Supreme Court” which prohibited the use of positive action policies in 2023, a decision that many other schools have been accused of bypass to carry out a desired racial composition in their student bodies. The complaint alleys to Johns Hopkins “the pre-filter candidates to achieve predetermined demographic results” by targeting certain groups through “awareness and track-based track programs”. “The use of discrimination based on Dei in medical education is not only illegal, it is particularly indefensible,” said the complaint. “No sector requires greater membership in merit and objectivity than medicine, where decisions taken by doctors can differentiate between life and death.”
The letter to Doj also points to the Johns Hopkins website, which does not hide its support for Dei. His school of medicine still maintains an office of DEI, which details his mission as “recruiting, promoting, preserving and engaging the under-represented people in medicine, sciences, nursing and health care administration so that we can carry out health equity.”
The School of Medicine also welcomes scholarships that “explicitly or implicitly conditions the eligibility to promote certain demographic groups”, using socioeconomic status to assume the race of candidates and provide scholarships that specifically serve non -American citizens or “minority” students.
Even the school’s residence program is accused of having used DEI discriminatory practices, occupying management positions for Dei and “LGBTQ + Equity and Education” chairs which would be supposed to recruit members of certain racial, gender and sexual groups.
The Trump administration seeks to dismantle the discriminatory programs of Dei, President Donald Trump signing several decrees prohibiting their use in programs financed by the federal government and restoring the objective of the law on civil rights. The Ministry of Education under Trump reflected these priorities, informing schools in February that discrimination based on breed was illegal and would not be tolerated.
