Obama backs California’s redistricting response to new Texas maps

Former President Barack Obama supports California’s plan to counter the Républicans rediscovering in Mi-Decipation in Texas.
During a fundraising event on Tuesday evening for the National Democratic Rediscovery Committee, Obama said that the Democratic Party had to “effectively respond” to Gerrymander’s republican attempts.
“I had to fight with my preference, what would be that we do not have political gerrymandering, but what I also know is that if we do not respond effectively, then this white house and that of the governments of the states controlled by the republican across the country, they will not stop, because they do not seem to believe in the idea of an extensive democracy in inclusive,” Advocate General of Eric. D-Calif., The former president of the Chamber.
The Republicans of the Texas Chamber adopted a bill Wednesday to redesign the lines of the congress which would add five other GOP seats in the congress after the mid-term elections next year.
California Governor Gavin Newsom called on State legislators to adopt a voting measure to redesign the lines of the congress in response to new redistribution plans in states led by Republicans like Texas.
After the vote on Wednesday evening in Austin, Newsom said on X: “It’s on Texas.”
Although it is not prohibited, it is rare for states to offer cards between the counts of the ten -year census.
Obama quoted Newsom’s plan on Tuesday, saying that he had “enormous respect” for the proposal, which would allow us to reduce the Democrats.
“Texas takes the direction of a supporting White House that actually says: Gerrymander for supporters so that we can maintain the house despite our unpopular policies,” said Obama.
“So I believe that the approach of Governor Newsom is a responsible approach. He said that it was going to be responsible. We are not going to try to maximize it completely. We are going to do it if and when Texas and / or other republican states are starting to draw these maneuvers,” he said.
The National Democratic Rediscussion Committee echoed Obama’s support on social networks on Wednesday evening, calling Newsom’s plan “a fair and responsible response to the entry of Trump’s unprecedented power”.
