Democratic representative Delia Ramirez (-’) told a meeting of foreign Latinos in Mexico:” I am proud Guatemalan before being American “, and the Department of Internal Security wants citizens to see its confession of foreign loyalty.

“Wow. I wonder how @repdeliaramirezThe voters of Illinois think that his loyalty is towards Guatemala rather than for them ”, note The project of immigration responsibility.

The Ministry of Internal Security (DHS) quickly reminded the Americans the rejection by President Teddy Roosevelt of foreign loyalty:

One of the DHS tasks is to withdraw citizenship from migrants who gain citizenship by fraud and deception.

The DHS also administers the naturalization process, during which migrants are required to declare loyalty to the United States:

I declare by the present, under oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce to renounce any allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentat, state or sovereignty, of which or that I have so far been a subject or a citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and national; that I will support true faith and allegiance to the same thing …

Ramirez, however, did not have to take an oath because she was born in the United States after the illegal migration of her foreign parents in the United States. CNN reported the story of Ramirez in 2023:

“I am the wife of a DACA recipient. I am the daughter of Guatemah immigrants.

According to history, Ramirez grew up hearing, when his mother crossed the Rio Grande, strong currents almost swept it away. She had hidden her pregnancy to others on the trip, but at that time, she called in despair: “Help me! Help me! Save me my daughter! ” A man did it, said Ramirez, but after that day, his mother has never seen him again.

This origin has shaped its political priorities, in particular the establishment of the interests of the needs of the Americans below those of the migrants, even after having taken an oath when they were elected to the Congress:

I swear solemnly (or affirm) that I will support and defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and national; that I will support true faith and allegiance to the same thing; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reserve or escape objective; And that I am going to pay the office of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

Its diversified origin does not prevent the Democratic representative from pretending to be law and order.

In May, for example, Ramirez challenged the chief of the DHS, Kristi Noem, asking: “When you have taken an oath, have you tried to support and maintain the constitution of the United States of America?”

“Yes, I did it,” said Noem.

“I find it laughable,” said Ramirez, adding:

We do not live in a dictatorship or a monarchy. Trump’s desire is not the doctrine director of this nation and our country for its twisted authoritarian fantasies. We are a democracy. We defend the Constitution and affirm the rule of law. We respect the co-branches of the government, and we defend our rights, even when we do not agree. The foundation of our nation is based on a central set of constitutional rights on which our prosperity, our pluralism and our peace depend [sic].

However, you have been running this work for 116 days, and during this time, you have profiled and dehumanized our neighbors, you have betrayed our constitutional commitment to a regular procedure, you have expelled American citizens. You have undermined the courts, you have violated the law, you are committed to corruption and you armed the immigration system to violate civil rights. As a senator [Chris] Murphy [D-NJ] By perfectly stated, your department is out of control, but you are responsible. You have betrayed the sacred fundamentals of your oath, and I believe in my heart that you are not able to occupy the office. And I am once again, to your face, requires your immediate resignation, and I put it and place it on the file so that we can see them all.

Ramirez is a member of the Hispanic Caucus of the Congress of 35 people. It represents a district of Chicago in Illinois, where at least 46% of residents are Hispanic. This 46% share includes certain illegal migrants.
