Dems ‘Absolutely’ Will Fight GOP’s ‘Power Grab’ Redistricting
During the broadcast of this week of the “The Hill Sunday” of Newsnation, the president of the National Democratic Committee (DNC), Ken Martin, said that the Democrats would “absolutely” against the redistribution efforts of the Republicans.
Martin said: “Absolutely, we are, whether in court, whether it was the organization on the ground, what we have done.”
He continued: “Reality is what we have already seen is a crazy power, an unconstitutional takeover, in my mind. Look, the Constitution says very clearly that we have a ten -year census. We trace the lines after that. State legislatures are authorized to do so, but that does not give them the power to make mainly lines each time we want to do. To fight the fire with the fire.
Martin added: “You know, the reality is that all of this was done by Greg Abbott at Donald Trump’s request. They used relief as a reason for holding this special session.”
