Dodgers top prospect shines in World Series rematch

The Los Angeles Dodgers didn’t just beat the Blue Jays on Monday night in a 2025 World Series rematch — they embarrassed them to the tune of 14-2. And the problem for the rest of MLB is that their best hope was strong. Dalton Rushing went 4-for-4 with two home runs and reached base in his five plate appearances, the first four-hit game of his MLB career. It’s not a pretty beginner’s flash. This is immediate value in a lineup that already has nothing to do with such depth.

The Dodgers’ rise continues
The rush accounted for two of the Dodgers’ five home runs, and the rest of the power display was just typical Dodgers flexing: Teoscar Hernández went deep and scored four, Freddie Freeman singled and scored three, and Shohei Ohtani also added a homer. The Dodgers have won four straight and have scored more than seven runs in each of those games.
Rushing is more than hot: it adapts
Rushing isn’t just about hitting…it’s where it belongs. See what I did there.
The Dodgers got on base, counted and punished errors throughout the game. Rushing hit his first homer in the third, then came back later and did it again, because Toronto just couldn’t stop the bleeding.

Scherzer’s exit changes the situation, but not the result
And yes, Toronto was compromised: Max Scherzer exited after two innings with forearm tendonitis, which is the worst two-word combination for pitchers outside of Tommy John. But the Dodgers didn’t win because Scherzer left. They won because the Jays had no answers, even before things got out of hand.
Justin Wrobleski gave the Dodgers five innings and limited the damage after a shaky first, which is what you need when your offense is doing the heavy lifting.
Rushing’s confidence is real
Rushing also didn’t sound like a guy trying to convince you it’s real. He hit like it was normal, then joked after the game: “Unfortunately, like I said on the field, it’s only downhill from here.” He’s comfortable and it’s pretty cool.
