Snapdragon X2 Elite hype is real. So why am I so wary?

Skepticism is normal. But cynicism is different. It blocks receptivity – as I made after this week’s discussion on the launch of Qualcomm of its Snapdragon X2 Elite and Elite Extreme processor.
TFN Regular and my colleague Mark Hachman joined us to discuss the press points to which he attended last week, which included a revelation of the phenomenal reference results. According to his figures, the second generation Snapdragon Elite chips of Qualcomm do not only break the basic line defined by its predecessors. They also smoke Intel and AMD. In Cinebench 2024, the Rival Silicon X2 Elite Extreme has exceeded the Ryzen AI 9 hx 370 and Core Ultra 7 155H up to 56% in monocre performance. Meanwhile, in multi -year performance, the Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme displayed an advance of more than 200%.
Qualcomm claims that this madness also extends to the game, teasing a doubling of performance in the games, which would increase the expected production of 1080p 30 IPS to low parameters to 60 frames per second. For thin and light laptops that the snapdragon elite fleas would feed, this photo in the arm for the game would be impressive.
And yet, while guiding the conversation, I pushed in the shade which is hidden on the outskirts of this information. I wanted to know: where is the support of the PC supplier? Software management? (Especially games …) Why does Qualcomm focus more on the performance of its battery, where it is already strong?
I always believe that these are fair questions. But after the show, I put into account when another semiconductor company made a new push in laptops. We are thinking of this company with positivity today, but five years ago, AMD faced a difficult battle.

At the time, Intel held around 90% of the market. AMD Mobile Chips also exercised the reputation of being at low performance, found only in cheap budgetary computers. Thus, while Team Red had revolved around his reputation as an office, this initiative met the reserve and even cynicism.
We now know that such a reluctance to consider the success of the AMD was not founded. AMD mobile fleas are now comfortably supported with the best with Intel-and even define the high performance expectation bar (that is to say Stix Halo). AMD has also regularly gained ground on the market – Intel is now less than 80% for laptop actions, according to recent reports.
So yes, my questions were correct. Qualcomm still needs more robust software management. And it can be confident in the reputation of Snapdragon Elite for a long service life of the battery. But I think it’s worth calling me here. I did not lit up these areas with an attitude of curiosity. I was wary – and it is not yet justified.
Because this last piece of the puzzle – the support of the PC supplier – never occurs in a vacuum. Laptop manufacturers will not offer qualcomm models without interest. And I do not yet have independent reference results to justify something other than the reserve.
If I want to see more innovation, I can’t let skepticism take over on me. This will turn into cynicism, blocking the spirit of the complete Nerd. Gordon has always defended the idea that companies are growing in the unknown. At that time of economic turbulence, such an approach is even more risky. It is up to us in the stands to stay open. In addition, we could otherwise accidentally kill incredible equipment with indifference, before it launches.

In this episode of The Full Nerd, Alaina Yee, Brad Chacos and Mark Hachman DIC in details of the new Snapdragon X2 Elite and Elite Extreme Chips of Qualcomm (including the breathtaking references of the extreme elite) and if the imminent death of Windows 10 is really a big problem. With Will Out this week, I take the indignant chicken coat compared to Microsoft [censored] Promise of 500 reward points for the use of the Bing application.
(Yes, yes, I know, no longer to be mistaken.)
I also lowered Brad respect for me by admitting that I have better rubber domes than mechanical switches. For what? You will need to connect to the Q&R section to get the full context. (Also, cry out to the friends of our Discord server, who offered good advice on my problems with the use of an ERGO mechanical keyboard.)

This week’s confusing Nerd news
I made a double grip when I heard of the unexpected hike of the Microsoft game game price. Ditto for the idea that the world literally becomes darker (but not colder).
At least, we still have pieces of joy there to comfort me – like the wonderful success of nostalgia that I obtained by imagining the sound of 12 56K modems at the same time.
- These keys sound so well: I could have unusual switching preferences (or unnatural, depending on which you ask), but I still like the sound of mechanical keyboards. Mike Crider, our resident keyboard guru, recently tested one with ceramic keys. I could listen to it in rehearsal for a while, to be honest. It’s soothing.
- I always be wary of AI navigators: but I must admit that I found it interesting to read the practical experience of someone else with one. If you ignore the security and confidentiality problems of such an AI browser, the potential to help people with accessibility challenges is cool.
- Maybe players do not hate Windows 11: you know, I have in fact forgotten to consider how motivated people are motivated by deadlines. Now, I wonder what the October and November steam investigations will be related.
- Will Adam sniff this next one? I don’t know what I think of an SSD with an integrated oil diffuser. But I’m sure that Aam would say that.
