Cops arrest 3 men in fatal stabbing of Harlem man rebuilding life after prison

Three suspects were arrested during the murder of a 33 -year -old man who had been in law and Rameau for three years after his release from prison, and had recently obtained a new apartment, police announced on Sunday.
Jervey Barfield put his life on the right track after being released from prison three years earlier, and had recently obtained his own apartment, when he was stabbed several times on the back after being altering with several men outside a charcuterie on Frederick Douglass Blvd. Near W. 141st St. around 5:25 am on May 3.
“He was adorable,” said the victim’s sister, Crystal Richardson, 40, at the Daily News at the time. “He had no fight. He had no oxen. He had just returned from prison. He was only for, like, three years. He was not many problems. He was not at all in difficulty.”
Police announced the arrest of three of his so -called attackers on Sunday: Naquan Anderson, 37, Trevor Carpenter, 42, and Alvin Nelson, 44. Anderson and Nelson are accused of murder and carpenter is accused of manslaughter.
The cops first recovered Nelson – who lives in Harlem not far from the crime scene – arrest him on May 16, police said. A week later, they arrested Carpenter and two weeks after that, on June 9, Anderson was arrested, said cops. Anderson lies in the Bronx and Carpenter is Roanoke, Virginia, police said. The two were arrested in Harlem.
It was not immediately clear which sparked the argument which led to the effusion of blood. After being stabbed, Barfield managed to run around a pâté de houses, where he collapsed, police said. Doctors found him and precipitated him at Harlem hospital, where he died.

As he was killed, Barfield had been released from prison for about three years since his parole in 2023 after serving 10 months for a condemnation for the trial of Manhattan.
After the prison, he had faced multiple difficulties in putting his life in order, in particular employment and life agreements, but had resisted them to determination and ingenuity, said his family.
“He worked on his music, trying to get a job,” said his sister. “I was also trying to help him find a job. But because of his story, leaving prison, it is very difficult for him to get a job. He was therefore a little frustrated on this subject. So I would say to him: “Just occupy your time”. So he would train.
Barfield had been strongly affected by the death of his older brother, Shannon Bates, who was shot in the Bronx almost 20 years ago, and who would face the loss by creating rap songs, said his sister.
“I let him live with me for a while,” said Richardson. “So you must be a big sister and say,” Hey, you have to grow. You need you. We discussed and launched it. And I said to myself: “I’m proud of you”. »»

They spoke for the last time a few days before his death, she said.
He was like, so, where are you? Are you still at home? He said to himself: “Very well, I had just registered on you, ensuring that you were going well,” she recalls. “This is what we are always doing. We always verify each other.
Barfield saw a close friend Noah Ramos just before being killed. “When he leaves me, he calls me normally and let me know that he is safe,” said Ramos. “But this time, I did not receive this telephone call.”
“He just discovered that he had a new apartment,” added Ramos. “He was very excited.”
The three suspects are in Rikers pending justice appearances.
