While Donald Trump’s Justice Department has downplayed the possibility that other men were involved in Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse of teenage girls, an email released Nov. 12 as part of the House Oversight Committee’s investigation into Epstein shows an exchange between the late financier and an associate in which they discussed “girls” and traveling.

Epstein sent an email asking “what is your schedule?” on July 23, 2010 to an associate. The latter responded the next morning saying: “the other girl’s name is [redacted].” The Guardian is not releasing the associate’s name because attempts to identify and contact him were unsuccessful.

That afternoon, the associate also wrote: “Can you call me / I’m with Tigrane, he would like to meet you, he is here with me in Ibiza / with 8 top girls, he said he would like to build something with you / can you come to Ibiza, we have a huge house or how can we organize this / this meeting, even Jean Luc could do a great business too / he has the nicest top models by his side, I told not to make any deals with anyone before meeting you.” The Guardian was unable to identify the character called “tigrane”.

“He stopped working with IMG and Trump, please call me and let me know what your plans are/kind regards,” the associate wrote, apparently referring to Jean-Luc Brunel, a French modeling agent and friend of Epstein.

Epstein wrote “I’ll be in Paris at night tom000rw” in the channel.

Several hours after the email mentioning “8 top girls”, the associate wrote: “can you come to Ibiza or can you send us the ticket to come with Tigrane and five girls to Paris as they have a return ticket from Barcelona if they live from here, it would be great if you can book us tickets to Paris, let me know so we can organize.”

Authorities arrested Brunel in December 2020 at Charles de Gaulle Airport on suspicion of crimes including alleged rape and sexual assault of minors and human trafficking of minor girls for sexual exploitation. Brunel, suspected of supplying teenage girls to Epstein, was found dead in prison in February 2022 of an apparent suicide.

The email exchange took place almost exactly a year after Epstein was released from a Florida prison where he served a brief sentence for solicitation of prostitution and solicitation of prostitution involving a minor.

Nothing in these emails suggests that Trump was present or participating in the subject of their discussion. Trump, who was friends with Epstein before the apparent fallout about 15 years ago, has denied wrongdoing.

Trump has grappled with his ties to Epstein for months, largely because of how his Justice Department handled his investigation.

In July, Justice Department officials said their investigation into Epstein’s investigative records “did not expose any additional third parties to allegations of unlawful wrongdoing” and that “this systematic review did not reveal any incriminating ‘client lists’.”

“There is also no credible evidence that Epstein blackmailed public figures as part of his actions. We have not uncovered evidence that could justify an investigation against unindicted third parties,” the memo also states.

The memo runs counter to Epstein’s accusers, who said others participated in his abuse. Trump’s political allies and supporters, many of whom believe Epstein colluded with high-profile figures in the trafficking of teenage girls, were furious, given that the president had promised to release the records.

The president’s name appears several times in other documents released Wednesday by members of the oversight committee. Oversight Democrats published email exchanges with Epstein in 2011, 2015 and 2019.

In these exchanges, Epstein described Trump as the “dog that didn’t bark.” He also claimed that Trump “spent hours” at his home with one of Epstein’s victims; Epstein also claimed that “of course” Trump “knew about the girls.”

The 20,000 pages of documents released by Republican watchdogs hours later suggest Epstein was keeping abreast of Trump. Epstein and his pilot sent emails about Trump’s plane travel in connection with his own transportation; he also appeared to consume information about the president’s political challenges.

These missives also showed Epstein speaking ill of Trump. Epstein wrote to former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers in December 2018 that “Trump – borderline insane…dersh, a few feet further from the border but not by much” – an apparent reference to his former lawyer, Alan Dershowitz.

Summers said: “Will Trump descend into madness?

“This is not a new phenomenon for him. In the past, he was told not to leave his apartment. This is how he survived a near personal bankruptcy. His strength is remarkable. He is beaten 24/7,” Epstein said. “I hope someone close to him gets charged, but I’m not sure, otherwise the pressure of the unknown will force him to do crazy things.”

Interviewed on Wednesday, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson told the Guardian: “These emails literally prove nothing. »

Earlier in the day, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Democrats had “selectively leaked emails to liberal media outlets to create a false narrative aimed at defaming President Trump.” Leavitt also said the anonymous victim mentioned in those emails was Virginia Giuffre, who she said “has repeatedly stated that President Trump was not involved in any wrongdoing.”

“Trump kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his club decades ago because he was a creep to his female employees, including Giuffre,” Leavitt said. “These stories are nothing more than bad faith efforts to distract from President Trump’s historic accomplishments, and any American with common sense sees through this hoax and clear distraction from reopening government.”

Asked about the exchange mentioning “girls,” Jackson, the White House spokeswoman, said: “These emails literally prove nothing. The liberal media is desperately trying to use this Democratic distraction to talk about something other than the Democrats’ total defeat by President Trump in the shutdown fight. We will not be distracted, and the entire administration will continue to deliver on the promises the president was elected on, including Making America Affordable Again.”

The Justice Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
