Lee Zeldin, Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), revealed how federal dollars spent on “environmental justice” often only perpetuate a cycle of unnecessary but lucrative environmental activism.

Zeldin explained on The Alex Marlow Show how his agency ended the scam by cutting wasteful spending, creating savings far greater than the EPA’s annual budget.

“It’s the principle that there should be a zero-tolerance policy for any waste and abuse,” Zeldin told host Alex Marlow. “It’s also the principle of being able to do more with less, and we’ve proven in our first 15 months here that we can achieve extraordinary savings here at the agency.”

The EPA’s annual operating budget at the time of Zeldin’s arrival was “about $10 billion,” but he said, “In the first year I was in this position, we saved $30 billion.” »

“In 2024, this agency has obligated and spent over $60 billion, and we’ve been able to cancel grants and contracts. We’ve done real estate consolidation. [and] staff efficiency through an agency-wide reorganization,” he explained. “We closed an EPA museum that no one knew existed or almost no one even visited.”

Zeldin highlighted an exchange with Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) during a congressional hearing regarding the waste of solar subsidies supported by the self-proclaimed climate change champion.

“We had examples where the grant went through as many as four different transfers, where each transfer entity received at least 15% to administer its share of the transfer,” Zeldin said. “I mean, a lot of this is just inexcusable.”

“Money is allocated in the name of environmental justice to solve an environmental problem, but then the dollar goes to one group of activists to train other activist groups to come to Washington and advocate for the next dollar to go to them to go out and become activists, like, wait, I thought we were spending this dollar to solve an environmental problem,” he explained further. “So yes, it’s about doing more with less, and we’ve found extraordinary ways to save taxpayers tens of billions of dollars.”
