Even PC users have caught MacBook Neo fever

The MacBook Neo is off to a good start, according to this user.
According to this guy “Tim Cook”:
Mac just had its best launch week ever for new Mac customers. We love seeing the enthusiasm!
Whoever wrote this guy posted this on X, which you will know as your go-to platform for generating non-consensual pornographic images, even of minors. Look for it on the Apple App Store, the safest place on Earth, where it’s always available because billionaires have different rules than the rest of us.
It’s tempting to make an app that produces exactly the kind of objectionable material that Grok and
Science you just can’t do.
AnyOkay, back to the MacBook Neo! Apparently it’s selling pretty well! As of this writing, online orders for the cheapest MacBook evah are available from April 7 to April 14.
And why not? It’s cheap, damn repairable, comes in a fun color and several other close colors, and while it may not have the overall performance of the even older M-series MacBook Airs, it does very well in terms of single-core performance and, most importantly, is supported by Apple. Who will take care of the used M2 you bought on Craigslist? My cousin Lars? With his drinking problem? Good luck. The last time you asked him for help, he spent an hour trying to “restart” the latest issue of Costco Connection because “his screen was frozen.”
As you can imagine, the MacBook Neo is causing some consternation in the PC industry. How are you going to keep them in Plastictown when they’ve seen the bright lights of Aluminum City?
PCWorld’s Michael Crider Says: ‘The $600 MacBook Neo Is Microsoft’s Nightmare’
On the official Microsoft hardware store, you can get a Surface “Pro” starting at $800. …But what you don’t get is a keyboard cover…
This seems like a small omission when trying to use a device as a laptop.
Windows Central’s Zac Bowden agrees: “The MacBook Neo makes Microsoft’s 13-inch Surface Laptop look like a bad deal”
The Surface Laptop 13 starts at $899 and has a worse screen than the MacBook Neo.
For a Windows laptop to be more desirable than a Mac laptop, it must be better than the Mac while being the same price. This is a tall order that I don’t think most OEMs will be able to meet.
As a long-time Apple watcher, it’s a little weird to live in a time where Macs are undercutting the price of a category of PCs, but here we are. All of a sudden, hardware manufacturers have a real problem explaining what MBAs like to call “their value proposition.”
It’s not like you can argue that it’s worth paying more to get Windows. Even if you are Microsoft.
The company announced that it will reduce Copilot AI integrations in certain apps, starting with Photos, Widgets, Notepad and its Snipping tool.
TechCrunch, March 20, 2026
Why, oh, why would the company do that when everyone likes…
It is clear that user feedback influences Microsoft’s developments in AI on Windows.
It’s crazy that Dell got this before Microsoft.
The company announced that it is also introducing the ability to move the taskbar to the top or sides of the screen…
The Macalope has a Windows machine in his office in the forest that he uses to, well, never finish playing “Starfield,” apparently, and God for one, he didn’t know you couldn’t move the damn taskbar. He just could never be bothered to try, because to him Windows is something you need to run as quickly as possible in order to get to where you really want to be. A bit like crossing the Delaware.
That’s not to say that the latest edition of macOS is his all-time favorite by any stretch of the imagination. The Macalope has a machine upgraded to Tahoe and one is enough. His daily use of the MacBook Air M4 will remain on Sequoia until the whole corner situation is resolved.
Macs were still worth what Apple charged them. Well, okay, the Mac Pro isn’t currently worth what Apple charges, but almost always. It was just that Apple had never competed at the low end of the laptop market. Now that this is the case, Windows OEMs will have to make do.
