Explosive Crash of Phoenix Light Rail Train Leaves 2 Dead, 1 Injured—but It’s Not the First Time in 2025 – RedState

Authorities say a fiery light rail crash overnight in South Phoenix left two people dead and one in serious condition. As a result, the entire B line is closed. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time this has happened in 2025.
Details on how this happened are still scarce, but here’s what we know:
“Just before 1:45 a.m., first responders were dispatched to the area of Central Avenue and Baseline Road after a crash near a Valley Metro light rail station. [in South Phoenix]”, Phoenix CBS affiliate KTVK/KPHO reported. The report continues:
Police arrived and found two cars at the intersection, one of which caught fire, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Phoenix Fire crews responded and extinguished the fire. Two people were killed and a third was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Central Avenue and Baseline Road are closed in all directions in the immediate area. Train service along the B Line was also temporarily suspended due to the investigation and damage to the light rail platform, according to Valley Metro. Passengers traveling north are asked to use the bus stop located near Central Avenue and Olympic Drive.

As mentioned above, there was what appears to be a similar accident on the light rail lines, which caused a section of the tracks to be closed for three days. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the September fire.

While this latest incident is a tragedy with two lives lost, there needs to be a sidebar on this to reflect on: Do readers need to be reminded that Arizona is currently led by radical left-wing Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs, who holds the record for the most vetoes in the Copper State’s history? When I wrote this story in August 2024, it was only in office. two years.
Fast forward to 2025. As my colleague Bob Hoge wrote in June, one of his most egregious vetoes appeared on a bill in the Republican-majority legislature that would have limited CCP-linked Chinese investment on land near military installations. Obviously, this endangers our country’s national security for political reasons.

The sooner we have a conservative (perhaps Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ-5)) as governor and Republicans in the Senate, the better and safer life will be for my fellow Arizonans.
This is a developing story. RedState will provide more information if warranted.
