FBI Official Who Oversaw Targeting of Catholics Lands Sweet New Gig – Thanks to This Democrat – RedState
We always knew that Democrat Abigail Spanberger, the governor-elect of Virginia, was Joe Biden in heels. As a member of Congress, she was a trusted reference for the Biden administration’s policies as they made their way to Capitol Hill. As a candidate for governor, she hid in her metaphorical basement to avoid having to be honest about her far-left leanings.
And, now, as Virginia’s next governor, it appears she is entirely the one who oversaw Biden’s FBI efforts to spy on Catholics and label those who embraced the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) as extremists. Meet Stanley Meador, Spanberger’s pick to be Virginia’s new Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security.
In announcing that Meador would join his administration, the governor-elect was full of praise.
“I know that Mr. Meador’s decades of service to our country and our Commonwealth will provide the expertise needed to protect our citizens, support the brave men and women of law enforcement, and ensure that Virginia is a place where every Virginian can thrive safely, regardless of their zip code.”
But Republican Rep. Jim Jordan (OH-04) quickly raised the red flag. It may not be all Virginians will be able to “prosper in safety,” at least based on Meador’s recent work history.

RedState first reported the Richmond Field Office’s targeting of Catholics in 2023. Under Meador’s watch, the FBI produced a report that drew on information from the Southern Poverty Law Center, Salon, and The Atlantic to conclude that Catholics, particularly those attracted to TLM, were fundamentally “violent extremists.”
A so-called “intelligence analyst” from the Richmond field office wrote a recently released report that warns that the nation apparently faces a serious threat from Catholics who prefer the Latin Mass. The analyst also coined two fancy new acronyms: Racially or Ethnicly Motivated Violent Extremists (RMVE) and Radical-Traditionalist Catholics (RTC).
Now that Joe Biden has gone the way of the dodo, it has been revealed that the war against Catholics is much worse than we imagined. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) released documents earlier this year showing that anti-Catholic bias ran deep within the Biden FBI and that the agency’s top brass took steps to cover up this inconvenient truth.
Stanley Meador, as the lead agent in the local office who made the initial insidious report, played a role in the entire sordid affair. After all, it was one of his agents who drew the conclusion that these so-called “radical-traditionalist Catholics” were likely to resort to violence in the run-up to the 2024 presidential election – those rosaries are known to kill! – and, therefore, had to be closely monitored and their groups infiltrated. Great stuff.

And now, thanks to Governor-elect Spanberger, he’s being rewarded with a cushy job overseeing the safety of all Virginians. Meador seems excited about his new role, saying, “Throughout my career, I have been committed to protecting our communities and strengthening the partnerships that keep them safe. As a native Virginian, I look forward to supporting Governor-elect Spanberger’s vision with the same dedication, integrity and commitment that has guided my service for nearly three decades. Together, we will work to serve and protect all members of our great Commonwealth.”
