If you have the affected cheese in your refrigerator, throw it away or return it immediately. If you think you’ve ever eaten contaminated cheese, watch for signs of Listeria. In healthy adults, Listeria may cause short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
However, the bacteria can cause serious, life-threatening infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. It can also lead to miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women. See a doctor if you experience serious symptoms after eating the recalled cheese.
