Gunman opens fire at Old Dominion University, injuring 2 people; suspect killed

A gunman was killed after opening fire Thursday inside a building on the campus of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, the university said. Two people were injured in the shooting.
The incident happened Thursday morning at Constant Hall, part of Old Dominion’s College of Business.
Old Dominion said in an alert that the shooter had been neutralized, without providing further details. The condition of the two injured victims is not known.
Shortly after noon, the university sent a notification that all was clear.
“The emergency at Constant Hall is over,” the university said. “There is no longer an active threat to the university community.”
A student at the university told CBS affiliate WTKR-TV that he was in class in the building when the shooting occurred.
“We heard faint screaming, and we just looked back, we didn’t know what it was, and then we heard the screaming get louder, and that’s when the alarm went off, and everyone ran out of the building,” the student told WTKR-TV.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives told X that it had agents on the scene.
The university said classes were suspended for the rest of the day.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
