FDA Announces Tea Recall Due to Salmonella—Nearly 30,000 Bags Affected

A recall is underway for nearly 30,000 herbal tea bags sold in seven states and Puerto Rico, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The tea, from Celebration Herbals, was initially recalled on November 25 for possible contamination with Salmonellaone of the leading causes of infection, hospitalization and death from foodborne illnesses in the United States

The recalled tea can be identified as follows:

The affected tea was distributed in Florida, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New York, Wisconsin and Puerto Rico.

Senna tea is known to have a laxative effect and is often used as a remedy for constipation.

The FDA has not provided specific instructions for this recall, and has not yet classified its risk level. However, since recall poses a problem Salmonella risk, The safest option is not to drink the affected tea and instead throw it away or return it.
