Five reported dead as Israel strikes Hezbollah in Lebanon’s Bekaa
The Israeli army said on Monday that it had made air strikes on several Hezbollah targets in the Lebanon valley in Lebanon, killing five activists according to Lebanese authorities.
The sites were used by Hezbollah for training, to prepare attacks on Israeli soldiers and store weapons in violation of agreements between Israel and Lebanon, the Israeli army said.
According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, Israeli raids left at least five people dead and five other injured, based on a preliminary assessment.
Lebanese security sources said all the victims were members of Hezbollah.
The Israeli army said it would continue to conclude Hezbollah positions to prevent the group from restoring its military capacities and eliminating threats to Israel.
The European Union has prohibited the Hezbollah military wing as a terrorist organization but not the broader political group.
