Florida Lt. Gov. Jay Collins appears to take shots at Rep. Byron Donalds

Florida Lt. Gov. Jay Collins, who could potentially make a run for governor in the Sunshine State, appears to be going after U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, the candidate President Donald Trump supported for governor.

Collins — whom Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis tapped for lieutenant governor earlier this year — retweeted a post on

“Hard Times → Strong Men,” Collins wrote, retweeting the post. “Strong men → Good times,” he continued. “Good times → Weak men,” he added. “Weak men → Hard times.”

“Traveling around the state with a ZERO record and nothing but an endorsement to brag about is not enough,” Collins said in another article, in which he later asserted, “Florida deserves better and I kept my promises.”

Fox News Digital has reached out to Donald’s campaign for comment.

While interviewing Collins, CBS News Miami’s Jim Defede asked the politician point-blank: “Are you running for governor?”

Collins responded by saying “we are finalizing that plan.” He later said “we’ll post our final decision here shortly. But we’re really close to making that… final call.”

In addition to President Trump’s support, Donalds was also endorsed by Republican Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and Republican Representative Chip Roy of Texas.

Business mogul Elon Musk also said Donalds had his “full support.”
