Four people were killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip on Monday, medical sources reported.

They said two Palestinians were killed and others injured in two Israeli drone strikes in the south of the cordoned off coastal territory.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that three people approached Israeli soldiers from behind the yellow line, “posing an immediate threat to them.” The army retreated behind this line as part of the ceasefire agreement with the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas.

“The IDF struck the three terrorists in order to avert the threat. Hits were identified,” the army continued, without specifying whether or how many targeted people were killed.

In an incident further north, medical sources in the Gaza Strip also reported that two Palestinians were killed by Israeli artillery fire east of Gaza City.

The incident reportedly occurred near the yellow line. When asked, the Israeli military said it was investigating the report.

More than 330 Palestinians have been killed in violent incidents since the ceasefire took effect on October 10, according to health authorities in the Gaza Strip.
