Samsung’s gorgeous new Galaxy Book 6 boasts 40 hours of battery

Samsung has launched the latest Galaxy Book 6 laptop series on the heels of the launch of the Intel Core Ultra Series 3 (“Panther Lake”) processor at CES 2026, boasting 40 hours of battery life and an “optimized” processor implementation.
Samsung’s Galaxy Book 6 will be available in three versions: the base model, the Galaxy Book 6 Pro and the Galaxy Book 6 Ultra.
The base Book 6 has base specs with 14-inch and 16-inch 1200p displays. The Book 6 Ultra, however, features 16-inch AMOLED displays with up to 2880×1800 resolution and creator-class RTX 5070 and RTX 5060 graphics underneath.
I had the chance to test the Galaxy Book 6 Ultra, and the only disappointment I felt was learning that Samsung also offers a version of the Book 6 Ultra with only integrated graphics inside. Boo!
Samsung says it has redesigned the thermal cooling system inside the Pro and Ultra laptops, adding enlarged fins located at an optimized angle to cool the components. Samsung’s cooling system is expanding to a “dual-lane” solution, which executives say cools more components than before. Voltage regulators, perhaps?

In total, this “Samsung-optimized design” delivers 1.6 times more CPU performance and 1.7 times more GPU performance than its predecessor, Samsung executives said.
The Galaxy Book 6 lineup also features a redesigned audio system with six speakers instead of four: four woofers and a pair of tweeters, improving the laptop’s bass punch. I’ve always considered a Galaxy Book’s multimedia experience one of its strengths, and now that OLED displays are becoming ubiquitous in the laptop industry, Samsung needs to step up in other ways.

That’s not to say that Samsung’s AMOLED 2X displays haven’t improved. The most notable improvement seems to be its dynamic refresh rate, which drops to 30Hz instead of 60Hz. This will likely happen when Notepad is idle or when you’re working on a document and looking at a mostly static image.
The dynamic refresh rate will minimize power consumption, achieving up to 40 hours of battery life. (It’s measured using video playback, which isn’t the most reliable measure of battery life, but still.) And even if it runs out of juice, you can recharge 63% in 30 minutes. Wow!

The Book 6’s keyboard appears unchanged, although a haptic touchpad is now standard across the board. However, unlike some competitors, you cannot write on it.
We still don’t know the price or shipping date, which will be released later, thanks to uncertain RAM prices. But Samsung isn’t holding back: a 2TB storage option is available on the Ultra, along with 64GB (!) of RAM. That’s a few hundred dollars at current prices.
We’ll put Book 6 to the test when we can get our hands on it.
