Price and availability

The Benq Screenbar Halo 2 Monitor Light is available on Amazon or directly from Benq for $ 180. In the box is the Halo 2 lamp of screen bar with USB-C attaché power cord, USB-C AC power adapter, wireless controller, webcam accessory with additional adhesive and paperwork.

Premium design and material and easy configuration

The Halo 2 of the screenbar is mainly composed of an aluminum alloy with rubber padding on the base and a mixture of metal and plastic on the pliers. It looks elegant and has enough weight at around 1.76 lb (0.8 kg) to give the feeling of a premium product.

The integrated monitor clip is versatile, with various grooves, the ability to stretch and a thick adjustable rear part for additional stability. Although it is evaluated for monitors with a thickness of 0.2 to 2.3 inch and a beach of curvature between 1000r and 1800r, it has an additional room for maneuver.

For example, you can use the Halo 2 screen bar with a curved monitor 800r as long as it is in the level of thickness indicated and has a screen surface well to resist dazzling (the light would be otherwise thought out on both sides thanks to this more extreme type of curve on the screen).

Almost 20 inches wide, the front light in the Halo 2 screen bar is more than two inches wider than something like the Razer Aether Monitor light bar. Although the BenQ’s own Sceenbar Pro has the same width, it does not have the back light of the Halo 2 screenbar and is generally less substantial. Unlike the rear light of the Ather, which consists of two horizontal LED strips, the rear light on the Halo 2 screenbar is a centered rectangle, which I found did a better work illuminating the wall.

The configuration of the Halo 2 screenbar is as simple as possible. You extend the monitor clip, place it on the top of the monitor, connect the USB-C cord about 5 feet in the USB-C USB-C power adapter or the DC / 3A 5V or higher equivalent, then switching off the wireless controller included.

The wireless controller included requires a USB-C cable for the load, which is not included, and is a strange omission at this price. It can be billed from any USB 5V DC / 1A or more standard port. The wireless controller supply indicator lights up red when loading and green once finished, providing up to three months of use.

Finally, in a beautiful key, a webcam support is included. Although I find the lights of the essential monitor, having to place my webcam on the side of the monitor’s light, rather than centered on the monitor, is far from ideal. With the webcam support, I can keep my webcam where it is supposed to be.

Simple and quality functionality

Let us answer the most important question. What is the right light? To set a level, I use several monitor lights, including the aforementioned ather and Screenbar Pro. These are good lights, which do an excellent job to provide enough lighting in my workspaces. However, the Halo 2 screenbar is at a completely different level, especially for my darkest workspace, which lacks withdrawal lighting.

If, for example, the Halo 2 of the screenbar is placed about 20 inches above your desk, you can get a maximum of around 1000 lux of central lighting, with a total total coverage area of approximately 33 x 20 inch. For comparison, ATHER has about half of the central lighting and a total overall coverage area of around 23 x 12 inches. These figures clearly explain why the difference in the brightness and the cover is so noticeable with the Halo 2 screenbar compared to other lighting solutions, which again are good products when taken alone.

Likewise, although the sceenbar halo 2 tri-zone backlight is only about 500 lux, it does a great job to enlighten everything behind. Again, I can’t help but think that it is not only the quality of the full spectrum LEDs that Benq uses, but also their logical arrangement and their configuration which help disperse the light so well.

The Eather has both the application control and an integrated touch panel. The bonding point with ether is somewhat reliable connectivity of its applications. The Pro Screenbar, on the other hand, avoids any type of application for an integrated touch panel. Even if the touch panel just requires a light tap, the bar itself can sometimes change if you touch the panel a little too strong.

By putting aside the fact that the RGB backlight of the ATHER is missing, the advantage with the Halo 2 is its separate wireless controller, so that there is no chance of moving the bar once in place. Of course, I would also have liked redundant commands on the light bar itself as with the pro screen bar, but I suppose you cannot have everything.

The wireless controller is an elegant and circular washer with an inclined touch panel and a smooth external ring which can be turned to adjust the color temperature and the brightness of the front and rear lights separately. Contact points features, including presence detection, automobile, preferred mode, power, light adjustment and color temperature adjustment of front light brightness centered on the front, color temperature and backlight.

He is an intuitive wireless controller, although it is a little slow to wake up from the sleep mode, which he enters after only five seconds of inactivity to keep the power. The only other real drawback that I found with the wireless controller is that its shiny touch surface attracts unsightly fingerprints.

The front and rear lights on the Halo 2 screen bar have a 2700K color temperature range, which is very yellow, at 6500k, which is very white. If you use the automotive automobile function, it will feel the ambient light and automatically adjust the temperature accordingly. Although it has a good work of harmonization with your environmental lighting, I personally prefer the clean white light of 6500K.

Similar to Screenbar Pro, the presence detection is a useful characteristic, allowing light to turn on automatically when entering the detection zone. The detection zone and the detection time adjustment are both adjustable from the wireless controller.

Having used the 2 screen bar between two 24 -inch thoughts, the Innocn 49Q1R and the Azorpa M3RC, I can say that it works well on these very different types of display. Even with Azorpa, which has a very reflective screen, I could tilt the light correctly so as to minimize, if not entirely eliminated, looking at the top of the screen. The Halo 2 sceenbar is doing an excellent job to place the light where it is supposed to do it.

Should you buy the Benq Screenbar Halo 2?

If you need additional light, and a lot, in your workspace and on your desktop, the Benq Screenbar Halo 2 is easily one of the best Light Ultra-Large Moniteur Bar solutions. It is a premium product with a price to match, but you can really see the care taken in the global design and the quality of the light.

If your lighting needs are a little more modest, you are probably as well with cheaper or more versatile options. However, even with its relatively high cost and its lack of flashy features like the RGB color, the Halo 2 screenbar is undeniably very good in what it does.
