Gladbach coach Polanski gets at least one more match
Eugen Polanski said that he would remain Borussia Mönchengladbach coach in difficulty for at least one more Bundesliga match.
“I returned the signal that I can continue,” Polanski said after the 0-0 Sunday evening draw with Freiburg.
Gladbach is the last second and the only Bundesliga team to win a match, after having renovated three draws and three defeats. The next game is after the international break on October 17 in Union Berlin.
Polanski is coach of the nominally under 23 team at the club, but was appointed caretaker when Gerardo SEOANE had to go there last month.
He has reluctantly against Bayer Leverkusen and Freiburg, but also a 6-4 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt where Gladbach where 6-0 fell after 47 minutes.
Polanski said he was looking forward to continuing with the team, saying that he got a “very good support from everyone, management, coach staff, the team.
“Now two weeks ago before the Union. There will probably be more talks then. For me, the emphasis is now on this international break, where we want to work on things with the remaining players, the more the Union game,” he said.
“I look forward to the Union game. There is a lot to do. And if it continues longer, I will be happy again.”
A final saying could also come from a new sports director after the resignation of Roland Virkus last week. This is Gladbach’s priority at the moment, and the managing director Stefan Stegemann has spoken of “encouraging talks” with the candidates.
The midfielder Philipp Sander has meanwhile Polanski, saying: “He is someone who interacts very well with the guys, having been on the field not so long ago. It naturally creates a link, and I think that is why he has a very good feeling for the team.
“Having a defensive plan or an offensive plan is one thing. Giving life is another. I think it attaches a lot of importance to that. And I think we are on the right track,” said Sander.
