Google I/O 2026 live updates: Gemini, Android XR, Workspace news

Google kicks off the developer conference season with Google I/O 2026 on Tuesday, May 19. You can watch the live stream of the keynote starting at 10:00 a.m. PT or follow Mashable and CNET’s live viewing party on YouTube. Once again, Mashable’s tech journalists will provide real-time updates on all Google I/O news and announcements from Mountain View, California.
In the past, you could expect the latest Android updates to take center stage at Google I/O. But this year, we expect Google’s artificial intelligence to be the star, as Gemini becomes integrated into the broader Google product ecosystem. We’ve already explained what we expect from Google I/O 2026, but to recap, we’ll be watching for a new frontier Gemini model, as well as updates to other AI products like Nano Banana, Veo, Gemma, and Lyria. Google will likely unveil the latest updates for Chrome, Android, Google Search and Workspace apps like Gemini, Sheets and Docs.
Finally, we hope to get a better look at the upcoming Android XR Glasses, which Google will launch at some point this year. You’ll find all the latest news from Google I/O right here on this page, so check back often.
