As the crew of NASA’s Artemis II mission makes its 250,000-mile journey back to Earth, it is hoped it will inspire a whole new generation.

At Goonhilly Earth Station in Cornwall, the team’s involvement is helping to highlight the county’s space sector.

Goonhilly is helping track the Orion spacecraft on the first crewed mission to the Moon in 50 years after launching from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 11:35 p.m. BST on Wednesday.

Matthew Cosby, director of technology at Goonhilly Earth Station, said Goonhilly was undergoing a qualification test for NASA to collect data and “hopefully we will demonstrate that we are one of the best in the world.”
