GOP Congressman Whose Wife Is Pregnant Lights Up Dem Colleague Over Abortion Comments – RedState

RedState reported Tuesday how Republican Rep. Brandon Gill (TX-26) masterfully questioned a Democratic abortion advocate during a House hearing on the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. Specifically, Gill repeatedly asked her which abortion procedure was her favorite while describing in gruesome detail what happened during the various procedures.
The witness, Jessica Waters, a professor at American University Washington School of Law, seemed visibly uncomfortable and kept trying to get back to the FACE Act. At one point, Gill remarked, “I wouldn’t want to talk about it if I were you either, because it’s barbaric and evil.” »
Rep. Shri Thanedar (MI-10) saw the exchange on X and brought out the tedious war on women card. When Gill asked what her The preferred procedure was, Thanedar responded by reporting that his preferred procedure was the “safe, legal and accessible” procedure. He added callously: “And no amount of fear-mongering in describing what happens to a half-ounce fetus with no consciousness, no self-awareness, or no sense of pain is going to change that.”

Even though we know how inhumane the typical Democratic position on abortion is, seeing it expressed in the same way someone would write a shopping list made me gasp, even though, as a former abortion supporter myself, I am particularly familiar with all the arguments and used some of them myself long ago before I saw the light of them.
But while people on social media took the matter to Thanedar, it was another Republican congressman who really cut Thanedar and his pathetic argument down to size.
Here’s what Rep. Addison McDowell (NC-06), whose wife, Rachel, is expecting their second child, wrote:
Today, because I’m in Washington, I had to FaceTime for our new baby’s ultrasound.
It is unacceptable to describe what I saw today as anything other than a beautiful baby created in the image of God.
I saw little hands. Little feet. A heart. A brain. I saw my daughter.
He went on to note that:
I will never stop fighting to protect unborn children from monsters like this who would kill them with a smile on their face.
It’s simple. I am pro-life. Shri is pro-death.
Today, because I’m in Washington, I had to FaceTime for our new baby’s ultrasound.

I mean, is there any other way to view Thanedar after what he wrote, reducing an unborn child to a clump of cells, a common tactic of the pro-abortion radical left? I mean, it’s pretty profitable when you consider that the barbaric abortion procedures he advocates are also used on unborn children who are far more advanced than the ones he described. It turns my stomach just thinking about it, let alone speaking about it out loud.
This has essentially been the position of Democrats for decades, and yet it is pro-lifers who have been labeled “extremists.” It’s infuriating, but the truth eventually gets out, and real extremists do us all a favor by saying the silent part more or less out loud – as Thanedar did this week.
Editor’s note: The article was updated after publication for clarity to note that McDowell’s wife has not yet had his baby. This was a misreading of the tweet. We apologize for the error.
Editor’s note: The 2026 midterm elections will determine the fate of President Trump’s America First agenda. Republicans must maintain control of both houses of Congress.
